Mike’s story begins right in the heart of central Kentucky growing up in the small town of Paris located about 30 minutes north east of Lexington. While attending Bourbon County High School Mike met his lifelong love Lisa.

Graduating with his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Kentucky Mike went on to serve 20 years in the United States Navy where he also earned his Master’s degree from Georgia Tech University and became a Professional Engineer. In his Naval career Mike managed the construction of multi-million dollar projects, held several prestigious positions and traveled the world with his family.

After retiring as a Commander in 2006 Mike and the family settled back in their home state of Kentucky. Mike founded M.A. Conley Construction and began building homes Richmond. Since 2006 the company has seen tremendous growth, but always maintains its family owned feel. M.A. Conley Construction is one of a very select number of home builders owned by a Registered Professional Engineer. Mike’s P.E. gives clients a piece of mind knowing their home is constructed with the utmost care.

Mike now manages the assembly of estimates, handles new client meetings and helps to drive projects forward. Even as the company has grown Mike continues to visit each home many times per week and gives each the same attention.

Cory is the younger of Mike and Lisa’s two sons. Growing up in a military family has brought Cory around the world. He has lived in Iceland, seen bull fights in Spain and met 3 U.S. Presidents. Through the families travels Cory and his older brother have grown close and enjoy many of the same hobbies. If you can’t find Cory there is a good chance he is in the woods. Cory and his brother enjoy camping, hunting and hiking together. (A little known Fact) Cory is a black belt in Tae Kwando and is easily spotted on most job sites by his white cowboy hat!

Though he may be young Cory brings another level of professionalism to M.A. Conley Construction. He is a graduate of Madison Central High School in Richmond Kentucky as well as Eastern Kentucky University. Cory graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. Cory has completed his Master’s degree in Applied Engineering from Eastern Kentucky University. While attending EKU Cory earned his Associate Constructor Certification testing in the 90th percentile on a national level. He also holds a 30 hour OSHA certification and a Quality Control Certification from the Army Corp of Engineers.

Cory acts as onsite project manager. He helps to coordinate subcontractors and employees in order to complete job tasks safely and efficiently. In addition to his onsite roll Cory helps with the assembly of project estimates and takeoff.

Cody is the older son of Mike and Lisa. He is “proud to call Richmond home and couldn’t ask for better city to live in.” The Conley family is a tight knit group. They enjoy spending time together when not building houses, but bring plenty of the fun to work also. Cody considers his younger brother as one of his best friends and enjoys the crazy, usually comical, situations the two end up in. (A little known fact) Cody ran the Louisville Ironman in 2011. You may see him running or riding his bike around town.

Achieving their college degrees was an idea instilled in the two Conley boys from a young age. After graduating from Gulf Breeze High School in Florida Cody began working on a degree in architecture at The University of Kentucky. A change in passions led him to the Construction Management field at Eastern Kentucky University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management and a Master’s degree in Applied Engineering. He also holds an AC Certification (Associate Constructor), a Quality Control Certification from the Army Corp of Engineers and a 30 hour OSHA certification.

Cody acts as project manager. He handles many aspects of design throughout the project from drawing plans to finish selection. Cody also helps to manage clients throughout the construction process and is the client point of contact.

While it doesn’t feel like it, I have worked at M.A. Conley Construction for 5 years now and held various roles before becoming part of project management. When I started out, I worked on a multitude of different tasks ranging from machine operation, concrete work, flooring and eventually to tile. Through all of these areas of carpentry and masonry I gained a wealth of experience that helped me become a more complete, finished article so I could showcase that not only could I pick up these skills but I could improve with them. Fast forward to today and my job as an assistant project manager focuses on several important aspects such as ensuring that our builds are on schedule, that our work is done with quality and efficiency as well as working with sub-contractors so that any questions asked or issues that arise are addressed. Its been quite a journey from where I started with the company with many surprises and changes, but I wouldn’t change a single thing about us!

To give some background to who I am, I was born and raised in the great state of Maine where I lived in Westbrook (A suburb of Portland). I graduated from Westbrook High in 2012 and went on to the University of Southern Maine where I pursued a Bachelors degree in History and Poli/Sci. I would eventually graduate in 2017 and move to Kentucky to be near my family who moved to Richmond 3 years prior. In my free time I try to keep busy with a handful of hobbies which range from gardening, fishing and cooking to sports (Soccer in this case), music and film. Between my hobbies, work and personal life I try to do everything to the fullest and enjoy all the beautiful things life has to offer.
